REAL CHANGE HAPPENS WHEN YOUR MIND AND BODY ARE FINALLY ON THE SAME PAGE.

Meet Lauren Maher, MA, LMFT, C-IAYT

YOU’RE NOT SOMEONE WHO HAS EVER FIT NEATLY INTO CONVENTIONAL BOXES.

And naturally, because of that, you haven’t followed a conventional path. You might work in the creative world—acting, writing, music, design, production, or in a role where imagination, perception, and emotional intelligence are part of what makes you good at what you do.

Your mind moves quickly, and you often feel things more intensely than the people around you. Some call it highly sensitive or gifted, but regardless, it simply feels like you were wired to experience all of life more vividly.

That sensitivity can be a powerful strength for creativity, empathy, and insight. But…it can also mean your nervous system runs a little hot—thoughts looping, tension building, and emotions that may feel bigger than the moment calls for. And when there’s been hurt, chaos, or manipulation in your past, your body may still be carrying the effects of it, long after your mind has tried to move on.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO STAY STUCK. CHANGE REALLY IS POSSIBLE (and within reach).

Working With Me

MY APPROACH TO THERAPY IS DEEPLY INTEGRATIVE.

I believe healing happens when we address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

This means working not only with thoughts and stories, but also with what is held in the nervous system, the body, and the deeper layers of experience that often live beneath words or feelings.

My clients are thoughtful, perceptive people who feel things deeply and think about life in big ways. Artists, creatives, highly sensitive and neurodivergent individuals, helpers, healers, entrepreneurs, and unconventional thinkers often resonate with my approach. (I know this because it’s a community I’m a part of myself.) With a background as both an actor and writer, I understand the intensity, unpredictability, and emotional depth that often come with living and working in creative spaces. Some are navigating anxiety or nervous system dysregulation, others are working through trauma or rebuilding their sense of self after narcissistic relationships.

A tall houseplant in a white pot is placed in front of a window with a dark roller shade in a bright, minimal room. There is a colorful orange and yellow rug on the wooden floor, and a framed art piece with a pink and purple butterfly is on the wall to the right.

Depending on what you need, I use somatic practices, nervous system regulation, and trauma processing through modalities like EMDR or Brainspotting, insight-oriented conversation, mindfulness, and movement. My background as a yoga therapist informs this work in a very real way, as it gives me insight into the physiological issues associated with stress, trauma, and anxiety.

Using these methods together gives us room to explore the larger questions that often arise during healing:

  • Who am I becoming?

  • What is my life asking of me now?

  • What would it look like to live authentically?

A lot of this work is about helping your system finally take a breath. We pay attention to what your body has been holding, the patterns that formed when you were trying to survive, and the pain or experiences that may still be living in your nervous system. From there, we begin processing those experiences while building practical tools and new ways of responding to life so you can feel more grounded, freer, and able to thrive from who you actually are and the life you’re choosing to live.

WHAT GUIDES MY WORK:

AUTHENTICITY

For me, therapy starts with being real together. A strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for everything else, and true authenticity is what allows us to collaborate, be honest, stay curious, and even find humor when things are hard.

Empowerment

Insight is helpful, but alone it just isn’t enough. I want you to leave therapy with a stronger sense of yourself, more trust in your own inner authority, and practical tools that help you navigate life differently.

02 —

Growth

Once we have some foundation and support in place, we can do the deeper work of transformation (the whole reason you’re here). This is where old survival patterns can start to shift, healing can deepen, and something new can begin to take shape.

03 —

transformation

This is the heart of the work for me: the process of becoming. I love helping people move from who they’ve had to be into who they really want to be.
